This
is a special photo. On the evening of Dec. 18th, Kenny Rittaler
of the Sooke River Hotel gave out funds to charities such
as ourselves, proceeds from the weekly meat draws that are
held at the Sooke River Hotel and from the Annual Charity
Auction. As the Sooke District Lioness continue to assist
the residents of Sooke and area, but want to thank Kenny
and Don Rittaler and their staff for helping us do our work.

The
Torch Relay began its journey in Sooke at 7 a.m. on Oct.
31st at the Sooke Firehall (after the initial relay and
party in Victoria evening before) and finished with a blessing
ceremony at the T'Sou-ke Nation before continuing on to
Metchosin. Following the relay, the community was treated
to a breakfast at the Edward Milne Community School. As
with the Relay, the breakfast was organized by the Sooke
Spirit of BC Community Committee.

Sooke
District Lioness were among the volunteers in the kitchen
at Edward Milne. Along with students, we heated and packed
100's of cheese bagels and pizza pretzels. Outside, the
decorated vehicles passed in the morning darkness.

A
new job for us this year - Lioness Sue W blowing up the
happy face yellow balloons that were snapped up as fast
as we could get them tied!
|

We
gave up counting how many balloons we made. We are working
in the covered craft area where we can listen to the great
music from the outside stage nearby.
