Wednesday, Feb. 28th, 2007, 5 Sooke District Lionesses, Gail N, Jean W., Isabella N., Pres. Ellen M. and Jean C. travelled to Port Renfrew Elementary School. Prior to Christmas, Lionesses Jean C. and Jean W. had purchased books on the Teachers wish list for the school, but due to wild weather, power outages and road closures, we were unable to deliver them to the students until now. And snowfall threatened to stop us again, but we made the trip safely. The Principal, students and teachers welcomed us. After presenting the books to the teachers, and the illustrated books to the students, Lioness Jean C. read the book, "Eagle Dreams" to the children. The children obviously enjoyed the story and were eagerly checking out the new books. We were presented with a delightful thankyou cards and posters for the books and for gifts sent at Christmas as well. Following a delicious snack of tea and scones and cookies made by one of the teachers, we were on our way, with a promise to return next year with more books.
